Wolves Men’s Golf Climbing the Rankings at Midseason
The Wolves have put together an impressive campaign through the midpoint of the season, currently ranking 4th Regionally and 46th Nationally among all NJCAA Division II Men's Golf programs.
Two runner-up finishes at both the Evangel Fall Kickoff, and the Hannibal-LaGrange University Spring Invite demonstrate the Wolves' ability to consistently compete at a high level, making this program one to watch heading into the postseason stretch.
Freshman Stone Yerington has led the way for the Wolf Pack. Currently, Stone is ranked No. 1 in the region and No. 40 nationally in NJCAA Division II Men's Golf. Through six events, he holds a 74.1 scoring average along with an average of 41.25 weighted points. Yerington has recorded three top three finishes this season, including earning individual medalist honors at the Baker Invitational.
The Wolves have also benefited from strong performances across the team this season as several players have turned in Top 10 finishes. Drake Abell placed ninth at the Evangel Fall Kickoff; Jack Mallory finished ninth at the Hannibal-LaGrange University Spring Invite; and Max Mask recorded a sixth place finish at the War on the Moor.
The Wolves will look to continue to climb the national rankings as they head into a critical stretch of the season. Up next is the Missouri Baptist Spring Invitational on April 13–14 at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course, followed by the South Central District Tournament on April 27–29 at Bogey Creek Golf Course in Farmington, Missouri. The top two teams, along with the top individual not on a qualifying team from the District Tournament will advance to the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship Tournament, May 18–22 at Swan Lake Golf Club in Plymouth, Indiana.
