MCC Athletics Banquet 2026
MCC Athletics hosted our annual banquet to celebrate the many accomplishments of our student athletes during the 2025-2026 seasons.
Here are the award winners.
Academic Team of the Year
This year five teams maintained a team GPA of over a 3.0. The team with the highest GPA, and the Academic Team of the Year is Softball
Team Community Service Award
Each year our teams Volunteer with organizations across the Kansas City Metropolitan area. We are in the business of leading and developing well-rounded student-athletes and you all have shown up and met the challenge time and time again this year. Community programs like:

• Midwest RESCUE
• The Boys and Girls Club KC
• STARS- Success Through Adaptive Recreational Soccer
• The National Breast Cancer Foundation
• Wings for Water
• Winter Wishes
• John Knox retirement home
• Habitat for Humanity
• KC Parks & Rec
were significantly impacted by your volunteerism. Volleyball even hosted a free skills development camp for youth KC Metro area to inspire young athletes.
Through each of your efforts, Metropolitan Community College Athletics made a $39,870 economic impact through volunteerism this year alone! One team's volunteerism narrowed out the rest, completing an average of 14 hours per athlete. The 2025-2026 Team Community Service Award winner is the MCC Baseball team.
Student Athlete of the Year
- Women's – Grace Halter
Grace graduated with an overall 3.46 GPA. As a team captain and First Team All-Region Honoree. She leads with enthusiasm, respect and hard work. She has attended every MCC athletics event this year, and consistently goes to all MCC sports programs across the district. She has been both a leader at MCC and in the community as she has completed over 14 hours of service this year with organizations like Wings for Water, Grow Gathering through Park hill Community Alliance for Youth, and STARS Soccer Clinic. She will leave MCC having been a part of 23 wins, 4 draws and just 6 losses over two seasons. Grace will attend Graceland University next year on a scholarship to continue her soccer career
- Men's – Carson Schmidt
Carson has been a model leader & teammate. He graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.6. He has been active in his community this year volunteering at the Matt Mason Memorial Triathlon, Honk and Howl, Winter Wishes and the Maple Woods Food Drive. As a 1st team All Region selection he ranked 1st in the region in On Base Percentage, 1st in the Region in Stolen Bases and 3rd in the Region in Batting Average. He will attend the University of Nebraska next year on a scholarship to continue his baseball career.
