Bio
Marty Kilgore has worked with the MCC Baseball program since 1989, and has served as Head Baseball Coach for MCC since 1998. Marty played collegiate baseball as a pitcher with MCC and Iowa State, and has his BA degree from Mid-America Nazarene.
Marty's coaching experiences with MCC include the 1993 and 1998 NJCAA World Series. Coach Kilgore has been honored as the Region XVI Coach of the Year eight times during his tenure, and in 2019 celebrated his 600th win as a coach. The success of his program is further evidenced by the high profile players that have gone on to participate in professional baseball, including Albert Pujols, Randy Ruiz, Logan Morrison and Ashton Goudeau. His teams have qualified for the NJCAA post season competition in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2013, and 2016.
Coach Kilgore established a benefit golf tournament to provide an annual event encouraging his players to stay connected with each other and with the baseball program. Today the MCC Athletics Golf Tournament is a primary fundraiser for the athletics department, providing resources for education and experiences that support college athletes.
In addition to coaching MCC's baseball team, Marty manages MCC's Sports Training Center which serves as an indoor training facility for baseball and softball training. When not working with his team or tending to his duties at the Sports Training Center, Marty enjoys time on the golf course. From his perspective, "the people" are the best thing about living and working in the Kansas City Metro area.
