2020 Fall Season Review
The Metropolitan Community College cross country teams wrapped up competition for the 2020 season at the NJCAA Division II National Championship in Fort Dodge, Iowa on Saturday, November 14th. This was the first season the Wolves were competing in Division II level, but the team proved to be up to the task as seven runners competed in the men's race.
Leading the pack in the men's National Championship race was sophomore, Cameron Deatherage, with a time of 28:07 and finishing in 49th place. This is also the highest individual finish for the MCC men's team. Sophomore, Clayton Gurley, posted a time of 28:14 (54th) followed by teammates Luke Hill in 28:53 (72nd), Sebastian Given in 29:12 (84th), Austyn Smith in 29:13 (85th), Ethan Holman in 30:59 (117th) and Angel Rocha in 32:59 (134th). The MCC men's team finished 11th with a team score of 325.
2020 proved to be an extraordinary season for the Cross Country Wolves. The men's team received national ranking recognition throughout the season. Individually, Cameron Deatherage set a new MCC Men's 8K school record with his 27:21 finish at the Ollie Isom Invitational on September 11th.
We are looking forward to building on the success of 2020, and are excited to see what the 2021 season brings! GO WOLVES!
