Wolves Drop Home Opener
Game 1
The Wolves were held scoreless until the 4th innings, when they exploded for seven runs to tie the game. The big inning was sparked by a home run from Ashton Russell, a single by Kylee Dickey, and a grand slam from Erin Stewart.
Despite the comeback effort, MCC would fall 9-7.
Erin Stewart led the Wovles at the plate with two hits, four RBIs, and one run scored. Kaydence Enos added two hits, drew two walks and scored a run, while Alexis Rusley also collected two hits.
Maddy Nickell took the loss for the Wolves. The started pitched seven innings, allowing nine runs on 11 hits while striking out two and walking three.
Game 2
MCC opened the scoring in the first inning after a solo home run by Erin Stewart. Coffeyville answered in the top of the second with a solo homer of their own to even the score.
The Wolves regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Ashton Russell drew a walk with the bases loaded, bringing in a run. THe game was tied 3-3 heading into the eight inning when Coffeyville pushed across a run in the top half.
The Wolves were unable to respond in the bottom of the inning and fell 4-3.
Gretchen Freeman led MCC at the plate with two hits in four at-bats. Stewart and Russell each drove in a run for the Wolves.
MCC will look to bounce back Thursday when they hit the road to open Region 16 play at State Fair.
