Game 1 Recap
The Wolves' offense was quiet through the first four innings as State Fair jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first. The Roadrunners extended their advantage to six runs by the top of the fifth inning.
MCC responded in the bottom of the half of the inning with a two-run home run from Gretchen Freeman to begin chipping away at the deficit. The Wolves continued to battle and pulled within one run in the bottom of the seventh but ultimately fell short, 6-5.
Freeman led the offense, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Alexis Rusley added her seventh home run of the season. MCC showed patience at the plate, finishing with six hits and six walks.
Game 2 Recap
The game remained scoreless until the top of the third inning when State Fair pushed across two runs.
The Wolves answered in the bottom half, thanks to an RBI single from Erin Stewart and a two-RBI double by Ashton Russell. State Fair evened the score again in the fourth.
Russell continued her standout performance, launching her team-leading 12th home run of the season to give MCC a two-run lead.
Russell, Kaydence Enos, and Stewart each recorded two hits, with Russell driving in four RBIs to lead the offense.
Maddy Nickell earned the win in relief, entering in the fifth inning and allowing just one hit while holding State Fair scoreless the rest of the way.
