Game 1
MCC opened the day with a strong 5–3 win over East Central, using timely hitting and solid defense to secure the victory.
East Central struck first, plating one run in both the first and second innings to take an early 2–0 lead. MCC responded in the bottom of the second when Alexis Rusley launched a solo home run to cut the deficit in half. Erin Stewart followed in the third with a solo shot of her own, tying the game at 2–2.
The Wolves broke things open in the fifth inning. Ashton Russell delivered the biggest swing of the game, crushing a three-run home run to give MCC a 5–2 advantage.
East Central threatened to rally late, capitalizing on an MCC error, a walk, and a base hit to pull within two runs. However, MCC tightened up defensively down the stretch, making the necessary plays to close out the 5–3 win.
Jada Gilliland earned the victory in the circle, tossing a complete game. She allowed eight hits and three runs (two earned) while working through all seven innings.
Offensively, Allison Shipp led the way, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Rusley, Stewart, and Russell each homered, accounting for all five MCC runs.
Defensively, MCC was sharp, turning two double plays and executing multiple key defensive sequences, including plays featuring assists from separate fielders to halt East Central's momentum.
