Game One
MCC fell behind early and couldn't recover, dropping Game 1 to St. Charles, 7–2.
St. Charles set the tone in the top of the first inning with a solo home run followed by multiple base hits to jump out to an early lead. They continued to add on with one run in both the third and fourth innings, steadily building their advantage.
MCC broke through in the bottom of the fourth, cutting the deficit in half. A walk to Alexis Rusley and singles from Alannah Hodges, Jada Gilliland, and Riley Beard set the table, while Erin Stewart delivered a sacrifice fly to bring in a run. Despite the rally, MCC couldn't generate additional offense the rest of the way.
Abbi Minton took the loss in the circle, allowing seven runs (four earned) on eight hits, with four walks and one strikeout.
Game Two
Game 2 was a thriller, as MCC battled its way to a dramatic extra-inning victory over St. Charles.
MCC got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning, capitalizing on a St. Charles error along with a base hit from Jada Gilliland, a sacrifice bunt by Kaydence Enos, and a groundout from Kylee Dickey. The Wolves added to their lead in the fourth when Alexis Rusley doubled and Alannah Hodges followed with an RBI single.
St. Charles responded in the fifth, taking the lead, but MCC answered emphatically in the bottom half. Ashton Russell delivered the biggest swing of the game—a three-run home run—while additional Cougars errors and a base hit helped the Wolves plate four runs to reclaim control.
The Cougars refused to go away, scoring three runs to tie the game and force extra innings. In the eighth, St. Charles pushed across two runs, but once again MCC had an answer, scoring two runs of their own—helped by another defensive miscue—to extend the game.
After holding the Cougars scoreless in the top of the ninth, MCC seized the moment. Alannah Hodges led off with a single, Jada Gilliland advanced her into scoring position, and Kylee Dickey delivered the walk-off RBI double to secure the win.
Hodges led the offense, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Russell added two hits, including her three-run homer, finishing with three RBIs and a run scored. Dickey went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, including the game-winner.
Ana Mondello earned the win with a complete-game effort, going all nine innings while allowing eight runs (six earned) on 13 hits. She struck out six and did not issue a walk.
