2023 Fall Cross Country Recap
While the 2023 Wolves Cross Country squad welcomed only one new member, MCC Coach Jessica Hammer couldn't have picked a better addition. Kaylee Hill (Raymore Peculiar HS) proved to be a great fit with returning sophomores Tyler Tomlinson (Staley HS) and Keenan Curp (Lee's Summit West HS).
Fall competitions included 4 meets of combined 4-year and 2-year schools. The season-opening St. Mary Sunset Showdown meet featured an impressive result for Kaylee Hill who finished 12th overall, first among NJCAA runners. Kaylee Hill also set a PR (personal record) of 20:15 for the 5K race. Additionally, the Wolves performed well at the Southern Stampede, an event of over 100 runners per race. Finishes for Keenan Curp and Tyler Thomlinson for the 8K included times of 30:10 and 32:15, respectively. Kaylee Hill's 5K time of 20:41 was good for 17th place overall.
The MCC runners secured their invitation to the NJCAA National Meet by a strong showing at the Region XVI Cross Country Championship. Kaylee Hill was the Region XVI Division II women's race champion, while Tyler Thomlinson finished 3rd (PR time of 28:44) and Keenan Curp finished 4th in the men's race.
The NJCAA National Championship Meet was took place in Mid-November, featuring both Cross Country and Half Marathon meets in Huntsville, AL.
